The most potential value to the widest range of users
As you probably know, tutorial and training software is the most recent type of chess program to arrive on the market. According to numerous experts, it is possibly the category with the most potential value to the widest range of users. Chess Academy was one from the first (since 1991, as Chess Academy Tutor, DOS-version) available tutorial and training programs, and the first "Office-like" program which includes all-in-one: database, tutorial & traning (with modules), and playing programs as one package (since 1999, as Chess Academy 2000 product line for Windows operating system).

Chess Academy tutorial program includes numerous modules in electronic forms (e-books). For example, Chess Academy 7 OfficeDeluxe Pro Package includes 13 modules, and Exclusive Package includes 23 modules. Such modules provide easy access to material via sophisticated search and sorting tools. Unlike other e-books that typically designed to be used with viewer software (meaning reduced feature set), Chess Academy modules (e-books) are powered by full-feature Chess Academy program.

These modules were created with assistance of well-known grandmasters, international masters, and chess experts and produced by Witali Braslawski, MA (Pedagogics) and a psychologist who has studied computer expert systems, programming learning, and chess abilities extensively. All currently available additional training modules are geared for intermediate and club level players (ELO rating below 2000) and for expert and master level players (ELO rating above 2000).

Language: English (also available in German, French, Russian, and partially in Italian, Polish and Spanish).

These are skills that usually develop with practice, but users wishing to work on this aspect of their game will find these features very useful.
Extensive use of detailed text explanations
The program`s extensive use of detailed text explanations represents one of the software`s major strengths. A Chess Academy tutorial modules sho some of the significant text commentary supplied with detailed analysis that accompanies many of the training examples. The program also automatically tracks solved / missed exercises.
Support of chess engines for analysis purposes
Chess Academy tutorial & training program provides interface with an internal and external chess engine for analysis purposes. The program allows you to call on a chess engine to check your calculations. For example, the engine`s analysis tells you why certain moves will not work (e.g., a tactical refutation exists). It also provides you with a way to evaluate why certain moves are better than others, based mainly on very good and fast tactical calculations to find possible blunders.
Easy navigation
A two-level classification is provided in the Chess Academy libraries. The examples are classified according to definite topics which, in turn, are subdivided into subtopics. In accordance with this, the selection of material on subject matter takes place in two steps: Choice of topic; Choice of subtopic.
Support of EPD, RTF, and HTML formats
Games stored in Chess Academy format (both Database and Tutorial formats) can be converted into a format called Rich Text Format (RTF), which is a standard of encoding of textual information, various text formatting properties, document structures, and document properties, using the printable ASCII character set.

EPD is "Extended Position Description"; it is a standard for describing chess positions. This option is intended for data interchange among Chess Academy and chess playing programs. It is also intended for the portable representation of key positions and solving positions from Tutorial libraries.

Games stored in Chess Academy format (both Database and Tutorial) can be converted into a format called Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), which is a universally understood language to publish information for global distribution.
